Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) has launched an investigation into a potential food poisoning incident that may have occurred at one of its on-campus dining halls.

According to a university spokesperson, CCSU’s Environmental Health and Safety Department is collaborating with the City of New Britain Department of Public Health and the university’s food service provider, Sodexo, to examine the suspected food poisoning incident at Hilltop Café.

As a precautionary measure, Hilltop Café has been temporarily closed while health authorities work to pinpoint the potential cause of the incident. In the interim, the university’s other on-campus dining facility, Memorial Hall, continues to operate as usual.

Freshman Dominic Ladana, who frequented Hilltop Café, shared his perspective: “It’s probably the best place here in my opinion. The food was good. The service was good. I eat here every day, three, four times a day. So I rely on this food.”

Hilltop Café presently remains inaccessible to students, with locked doors and closed signs displayed. The reopening date for the dining hall is yet to be determined.
