When it comes to luxury travel, the iconic lie-flat business seat often steals the spotlight. But increasingly, airlines are raising the bar on another key aspect: food. For high-spending travelers, gourmet meals and curated drink selections are now essential parts of the premium flying experience.
American Airlines (AAL) is the latest carrier to join this culinary race, unveiling new specialty menus designed exclusively for its top-tier Business Class passengers on select long-haul international routes. Launching on June 9, these menus bring the authentic flavors of Europe right to the passenger’s tray table on flights to destinations such as Venice, Naples, Edinburgh, Paris, and Dublin.
Summer 2025: A Taste of Europe at 35,000 Feet
Starting June 11, customers seated in Business Class, Flagship Suite Premier, and Flagship Suite cabins can savor thoughtfully crafted dishes inspired by their destination cities. Highlights include:
Paris & Nice: Ratatouille and Porcini Short Ribs served with polenta, blue cheese, and walnuts.
Frankfurt & Munich: Spaetzle with grilled courgettes and portobello mushrooms.
Barcelona & Madrid: Traditional Paella.
London, Edinburgh & Dublin: Roast Lamb with mustard and vegetables.
To enhance the experience, American Airlines is also offering an afternoon tea service on select London and Paris flights, celebrating the rich cultural traditions of these cities.
A Culinary Journey in the Sky
“Summer travel is all about exploration,” the airline notes. “When travelers are looking to experience the magic of Europe, we are bringing the essence of European destinations straight to their seats with a range of new inflight summer menus.”
This move underscores how airlines are increasingly competing not just on comfort and technology, but on cuisine that surprises and delights even the most discerning frequent flyers.
As food becomes a key battleground in premium air travel, passengers can look forward to more destination-inspired flavors and elevated dining experiences on their next business class journey.
