Mott 32, the acclaimed luxury Chinese restaurant brand, is set to open a grand 12,000-square-foot location in Los Angeles early next year. Situated on the entire second floor of the historic Hollywood Citizen News Building, this stunning outpost marks the brand’s flagship in the United States. The restaurant, a collaboration between Mott 32 and the local Mother Wolf Group, will have a separate entrance from the popular Mother Wolf pasta restaurant below.
Known globally for its exquisite dry-aged and applewood-roasted Peking duck, handmade dim sum, and refined yet comfortable luxury, Mott 32 boasts locations in major cities including Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Seoul, Toronto, Vancouver, Las Vegas, and Dubai. Signature dishes such as lobster mapo tofu, crispy three-pot wagyu short ribs, and Iberico pork tenderloin char siu are staples, with roughly 70% of the menu mirroring the original Hong Kong location’s offerings.
Highlighting the Dining Experience
The Los Angeles location will feature a dramatic char siu show kitchen, a key attraction designed to elevate the guest experience. A custom roast duck oven will produce the restaurant’s signature Peking duck, paired with high-end dim sum selections like hot and sour soup dumplings and king prawn dumplings. Guests can also enjoy inventive cocktails such as spiced sherry and Hong Kong-style iced tea. The menu will incorporate fresh California produce, local seafood, and seasonal ingredients to add a local touch.
Design and Atmosphere
Designed by Joyce Wang Studio—who previously worked on Mott 32 venues in Asia and Las Vegas—the Hollywood restaurant will occupy a 1930s Art Deco building. The design aims to “transport people to another world” with an atmosphere that is sexy, fun, and central to the dining experience. A newly transformed alley will serve as the entrance, leading guests up a grand staircase to the “32 Mansion” on the second floor.
Strategic Location and Expansion
Giancarlo Pagani, managing partner of Mother Wolf Group, highlighted Hollywood’s rising status as a dining destination, thanks in part to the success of Mother Wolf. He believes Mott 32’s arrival will further solidify this reputation and draw diners from across Los Angeles.
Beyond Mott 32, Mother Wolf Group continues to expand aggressively with new ventures like Bar Avoja (Roman street food), Dream Rooftop, and partnerships with SBE on modern Mexican and Israeli concepts. Pagani also plans to open more restaurants by celebrity chef Eyal Shani in Los Angeles.
A Taste of What’s to Come
For a preview, diners can visit the existing Mott 32 in Las Vegas at the Venetian Casino Resort, where Peking duck often sells out quickly—an experience that Los Angeles guests will want to plan for as well.
