Mayfair has seen a wave of high-end hotel openings recently, from the Mandarin Oriental to the upcoming Chancery Rosewood in Grosvenor Square. Now, a more intimate property joins the list: The Shepherd Mayfair, a boutique hotel that brings new energy to the area’s hospitality scene.
A Revamp of the Former Park Lane Mews Hotel
The Shepherd Mayfair is located just off Park Lane, occupying the site of the former Park Lane Mews Hotel. While it claims to be situated within Shepherd Market, the exact boundaries are up for debate. Regardless, the location places it in a charming and historic corner of Mayfair.
Dining Options: From Brasserie to Speakeasy
As with many new hotels, food and drink are key highlights. The Shepherd Mayfair will feature a restaurant, bar, and cafe, each with a distinct concept:
-
Fayre – A modern “London brasserie,” this restaurant promises seasonal British dishes in a stylish setting.
-
Teddy’s – Located in the basement, this speakeasy-style bar offers a menu of classic cocktails in a more intimate atmosphere.
-
The Cafe – Situated on the first floor, the cafe serves artisan coffee, fine pastries, and light lunch options, ideal for casual daytime visits.
Boutique Style with 82 Rooms
The hotel will offer 82 rooms and is part of the Elegant Hotel Collection, which also includes Durrants and Eccleston Square in London, as well as Lainston House outside the city.
More to Come
With The Shepherd Mayfair set to open soon, more details about its culinary direction and design are expected to follow. As Mayfair continues to evolve, this boutique hotel adds another layer of luxury and charm to one of London’s most sought-after neighborhoods.
