Dom Taylor Launches Marvee’s Caribbean Takeaway

by Ella

Dom Taylor’s residency at the Langham was our most-read story of 2023, so news of his new Ladbroke Grove restaurant should resonate with many.

His new restaurant, Marvee’s Food Shop, part of music and event space UNDR, will be a more relaxed and cozy alternative to The Good Front Room. The menu is themed “a creative take on Dom’s nostalgic traditional dishes,” featuring waffle versions of two Caribbean classics – Bammy (a traditional cassava bread) and Jamaican Festival (a deep-fried sweet bread). These waffles can be served with Jamaican roast chicken, crispy spiced banana blossom or boneless curried lamb.

He’ll also serve up puff pastry Jamaican pies with fillings including callaloo, beef, saltfish or chicken, served with oxtail gravy and a rich, sweet dark rum raisin sauce. For dessert, you can expect his classic cakes and custards, as well as roasted plantains and molasses soft serve ice cream.

The restaurant seats about 60, but of course, they also offer takeaway. So if you’ve been missing Dom’s since The Good Front Room, this restaurant is definitely worth a look.
