Kolamba Brings Sri Lankan Street Food To Covent Garden

by Ella

Having already opened two restaurants in London that focus on Sri Lankan cuisine, the husband and wife owners of Kolamba are preparing to open a more casual restaurant. ADOH! (Sri Lankan for greeting or surprise) is opening next door to Rules on Maiden Lane, in the former Franca Manca space. It’s more of a fast-casual dining experience than Kolamba’s two restaurants.

The star dish here is Kothu, which, if you haven’t tried it, is chopped Indian pancakes, vegetables and eggs, stir-fried on a grill and topped with a curry sauce. It comes in four flavours: crab, chicken, lamb and jackfruit.

Other dishes include

Chilli prawn toast with tamarind sauce

Fried chicken with curry leaf waffles

Chinese seafood fried rice

Desserts are much simpler, with just salty palm sugar soft serve ice cream.

The restaurant will be walk-in only, with room for about 70 diners. And – good news for summer – it will also offer some alfresco space.
