McDonald’s fans got what they wanted. Apparently, they wanted more fried chicken.
On Thursday, McDonald’s announced the launch of new McCrunch McNuggets and a new Creamy Pepper Sauce to go with them. Best of all, these items are on the permanent menu—no limited-time “nonsense” here.
According to a statement provided to Food & Wine, these items mark the first time the Chicago-based fast-food chain has added new items to its permanent U.S. menu since 2021.
As for the McCrunch McNuggets’ specialties, McDonald’s describes them as “made with juicy 100% white meat, coated in a crispy golden breading with a rich new black pepper flavor.” And the accompanying sauce sounds like a perfect match, too, as it’s “savory, sweet, and tangy for the full McCrunch McNugget experience.”
“When we introduce a new menu item like the McCrispy Strip, we know we have to deliver on a big promise to meet our customers’ expectations,” said Cesar Piña, McDonald’s senior vice president and chief supply chain officer. “From the farms we source from to the ingredients in our restaurants, bringing new products to our fans requires a collaborative effort between suppliers, franchisees and corporate employees. We hold ourselves to the highest standards and are committed to bringing the best experience to our fans.”
Hungry fans can enjoy three or four new McCrispy Strips, each with a cup or two of Creamy Chili Sauce, at participating restaurants nationwide starting May 5.
McDonald’s notes that you can also pair your strips with your favorite McDonald’s signature sauces, including tangy BBQ, spicy Buffalo or creamy Ranch, for a personalized experience.
As for why the menu item was launched and why now, McDonald’s Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer Alyssa Buetikofer noted, “Demand for chicken tenders has been phenomenal across the industry, so we knew we had to deliver a mouthwatering treat that would be worth the wait. We spent time listening to our fans and creating a product we knew they would crave. The best part is, we’re just getting started.”
We guess you know what you’re thinking – if McDonald’s loves fried chicken so much, where the heck is the burrito? McDonald’s added in its statement that fans should stay tuned to its social media channels for more “exciting” updates, concluding, “Burritos… for now!”
We see you, McDonald’s. We see you.
