Blinds Is A ‘hip New Bar’ Opening On Hackney Road

by Ella

If you think there’s a part of London that needs more decent bars, you might think there’s a part of East London that already has a lot. Hackney Road already has bars like Sager + Wilde (the original natural bar) and Provisions, but it’s getting ready to open another new addition this summer.

Blinds is a new bar that’s located opposite Provisions and was originally a shutters shop, hence the name. The trio behind the bar are Arthur Gomez, Thomas Barclay and Jean Michel Peragine. Gomez has a lot of hospitality experience, having worked at Hedonism’s Wine’s The White Horse in Mayfair, as a sommelier at Terroirs and most recently at Classic Fine Foods UK, where he was responsible for developing wine lists for Michelin-starred restaurants.

In Hackney, they plan to offer a range of natural wines, cocktails and food. The menu will include a selection of pies, cheese and charcuterie platters, olive oil burrata, puff pastry, oil-preserved sardines, sausages and a selection of pickled vegetables. “It’s a trendy new bar focused on natural wines and an evolving tapas menu,” Gomez said.

On the wine front, he explained to Hot Dinners that their wine list is “primarily natural wines, with an emphasis on wines from small producers that we admire. We’re committed to serving quality juice to curious drinkers and we’re constantly evolving our selection to keep things fresh.”

There will also be DJ sets and carefully curated music on the weekends to create the best atmosphere.
