A few weeks ago, we reported on the forced closure of Filipino bakery Panadera in Kentish Town. At the time, owner and co-founder Florence Mae spoke of “operational challenges”, but now she has fully exited the Maginhawa restaurant group, taking Panadera and Donia with her. As a result, the Kentish Town cafe has reopened as Filipino/Japanese bakery Café Mama and Sons, while Florence is moving full steam ahead with plans to open Panadera in Soho.
The Soho Panadera bakery will be located in the city centre (near The Broadwick), in one of the local up-and-coming developments. It will be larger than the original Kentish Town bakery (as well as the smaller Panadera in Marylebone). But you can still expect the same popular mix of Filipino rolls, Filipino pastries and delicious sandwiches.
Additionally, the new space gives Florence and her team more opportunities to try out specialty products, and for this launch, you can expect the following:
Longanisa Sausage Roll – filled with sweet Filipino sausage
Ube pan Suisse – a soft laminated pastry filled with purple yam
The bakery/café will be open from breakfast to lunch, but also plans to open in the evenings for special Chef’s Table dinners.
