A new restaurant, China Mix, has officially opened in the heart of Montevallo. Located in the vibrant Main Street district, China Mix offers a delightful fusion of Chinese and Japanese cuisine, bringing fresh ingredients and quality service to the local community. The establishment is co-owned by Enrique and Luis Sanchez, a father-son duo passionate about food and hospitality.
Family Legacy and the Journey to Montevallo
Luis Sanchez shared that their decision to open China Mix was rooted in his father’s extensive experience in the restaurant business. Enrique had spent over 25 years working in a Chinese restaurant before deciding to open their own spot. “My dad had worked at a Chinese restaurant for 25-plus years of his life,” Luis explained. “He always wanted to open his own shop. We were looking around the Pelham, Alabaster, and Montevallo areas, and out of all the places we explored, we decided Montevallo was the perfect location.”
Since opening, the duo has received an overwhelmingly positive response from customers, particularly about the food and hospitality. “Customers have been loving our food,” said Luis, noting that their bestsellers are primarily fried dishes like sesame chicken, orange chicken, and sweet and sour chicken. Other favorites include the lo mein and fried rice, which have been well-received by the community.
A Vision for the Future
Now that China Mix is established in Montevallo’s Main Street district, Luis and Enrique are focused on ensuring the restaurant’s success in the long run. Luis expressed his hope to keep their location steady while exploring the possibility of expanding with additional spots. “We want this location to stay steady,” he said. “We’ll try to open up another spot as well and also keep one here in Montevallo. We still don’t know the future, we’re not too certain.”
For now, the father and son duo remain committed to offering delicious Asian cuisine to the residents of Montevallo, making China Mix a new go-to spot for food lovers in the area.
