Milk Bar, the iconic dessert bakery known for its innovative and playful treats, officially closed its location at Nordstrom Bellevue Square on March 8, 2024. The shop had been serving sweet delights since March 2023, marking just under two years of operations in the Bellevue mall.
A Short Yet Sweet Stay
Situated on the second level of Nordstrom, next to the Tommy Bahama clothing store, Milk Bar’s Bellevue Square location was the brand’s first full-service shop in Washington state. It quickly became a go-to spot for dessert lovers, offering its signature cakes, cookies, and the popular Cereal Milk-flavored soft serve.
A sign posted outside the storefront read, “Milk Bar will be closing March 8th. Thanks for being such great customers!”
Signature Treats and Menu Offerings
Milk Bar is best known for its whimsical and creative desserts, including the Birthday Cake, inspired by classic boxed vanilla confetti cakes. Other fan favorites included Cake Truffles, Gluten-Free Desserts, Pies, and Cookie Tins. Customers also flocked to the bakery for its signature Cereal Milk soft serve and a cookbook authored by Milk Bar founder, Christina Tosi.
Despite the closure of the Bellevue location, Milk Bar continues to operate across other U.S. markets, with 12 stores in New York, California, and Massachusetts. The bakery also offers nationwide shipping via its eCommerce platform, and its products are available in grocery stores throughout the country.
Milk Bar’s Continued Growth
Founded by Christina Tosi, a James Beard Award-winning pastry chef, Milk Bar began in New York City’s East Village and grew rapidly into a beloved brand. Its bold, imaginative desserts have made a lasting mark on the dessert industry. While the Bellevue Square location has closed, Milk Bar’s other locations continue to serve as the heart of the brand’s growing presence.
The closure at Nordstrom Bellevue Square marks a brief chapter for Milk Bar in Washington state, but the brand’s loyal fanbase remains strong with its other locations and online offerings.
