This week, Big Boy Restaurant Group (BBRG) will open two new Dolly’s restaurant locations in former Frisch’s spots in the Cincinnati area. The second location at 7706 Beechmont Ave. in Anderson Township will officially open on Tuesday. Dolly’s, a new venture under BBRG, promises to bring the signature flavors its parent company is known for to both the Blue Ash and Anderson Township communities.
Opening Day Specials and Prizes
To celebrate the grand opening, Dolly’s is offering special deals. On the first day of operation, beginning at 11 a.m., the first 50 drive-thru customers will receive a free Signature Burger. From 2 p.m., the first 150 dine-in or carry-out guests will also receive a free burger. Guests can start lining up at 1:30 p.m. Additionally, there will be exciting door prizes, including Reds tickets and Kings Island season passes.
Legal Dispute Over Territory
The opening of Dolly’s restaurants comes amid legal challenges. Big Boy Restaurant Group, based in Michigan, announced nearly 30 job openings in the region late last month. In response, “New Frisch’s” filed a lawsuit, claiming that BBRG’s move to reopen these locations infringes on Frisch’s trademark territory.
The lawsuit argues that BBRG’s efforts to reopen these former Frisch’s locations unlawfully violate Frisch’s federally protected trademark rights to operate restaurants in the area under the Big Boy name.
Dolly’s Brand and Menu
Despite the ongoing legal battle, Dolly’s is moving forward with its plans. CEO Tamer Afr reassured customers, emphasizing that Dolly’s Signature Burgers will feature the well-known white sauce that is a favorite among local patrons. He also mentioned that the restaurant’s sauces and ice cream are freshly made at a local commissary.
“We know that the white sauce is the right sauce for our Signature Burgers in Cincinnati,” Afr stated.
While Dolly’s website is still under construction, their menu has already been revealed, featuring burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken and waffles, omelets, onion rings, and milkshakes. The restaurant will also offer a breakfast bar from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on weekends.
Challenges and Employee Commitment
Afr acknowledged the challenges of launching the new restaurant amidst the ongoing lawsuit but expressed his commitment to the new workers. “These may not be ideal conditions for debuting a restaurant, but we’re making the best of the situation,” Afr said. The company has hired over 60 new employees who are eager to serve the community.
The new Dolly’s locations are also set to offer a weekly seafood buffet from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Friday through Easter. Despite the legal hurdles, the restaurant group is determined to move forward and provide quality food to Cincinnati’s food-loving community.
