A new weekly event is bringing together local food trucks in Machesney Park, offering a chance for the community to show their support for local businesses while indulging in delicious food. For the next six to eight Sundays, food trucks will gather at Home Depot, located at 1580 West Lane Road, to compete for the title of Best Food Truck in the Parks.
How the Event Works
The event encourages food lovers to visit the food trucks, sample dishes from each one, and then vote for their favorite. It’s a fun way for locals to discover new flavors, support small businesses, and engage with their community.
Success of Local Vendors
Donald Czyzyk, CEO of Sassy Boys food truck, shared his excitement about the event, noting that his SassyMac Truck was completely sold out by Sunday afternoon. He emphasized how important these community events are for local businesses: “We are looking for more food trucks, most definitely, so if other food trucks are watching this and they want to reach out, they can find me on Facebook, SassyMac Boys. We would love to have more food trucks.”
Looking Ahead
The event has been a great success, and there’s potential for it to extend beyond the initial six to eight weeks if it continues to draw crowds and support. This initiative not only boosts local food trucks but also fosters a sense of community in Machesney Park and Loves Park. For now, the focus is on celebrating and supporting the local food truck scene, and it’s clear that these weekly gatherings are gaining traction.
