A new dessert destination is set to join Richmond’s vibrant food scene this summer. Little Pisces, a popular spot known for its taiyaki (fish-shaped cake) and soft serve ice cream, is opening its second Metro Vancouver location on Alexandra Road. This new store will take over the former Me and Crepe’s space in Golden Plaza, part of Richmond’s famed “food street.”
The Japanese dessert shop made its debut last year with its first location on North Road in Burnaby and has quickly gained a loyal following. With renovations underway for the Richmond store, the team is excited to bring their unique offerings to a new area.
A Delicious Menu of Japanese Desserts
Little Pisces is best known for its taiyaki, a fish-shaped cake filled with a variety of delicious fillings such as red bean paste, Nutella, ube, and custard. The menu also features soft serve ice cream in flavours like banana milk, hojicha, mango sorbet, and yakult, allowing customers to mix and match for the ultimate treat. In addition to these desserts, the shop offers a variety of drinks, including hojicha (roasted green tea), passionfruit green tea, matcha strawberry lattes, and more.
To keep things fresh, owners Linda Dai and Jacky Tian are planning to introduce exclusive Richmond-only flavours. This will offer something unique for Richmond customers, while still maintaining the popular offerings that have made Little Pisces a hit at their Burnaby location.
A New Venture for Richmond’s Thriving Food Scene
Richmond has long been on the radar for Little Pisces’ expansion. According to Dai, the city’s “strong concentration of really amazing restaurants, dessert, and drink spots” makes it an ideal place for their second location. Additionally, many of their customers have requested a store closer to the west side of Metro Vancouver, making the move a natural next step.
Little Pisces’ journey began in the spring of 2024 with pop-up events at craft markets in Vancouver. The positive reception from the community has helped them reach the point where they can now open a second location. Dai expressed gratitude for the support from their customers and team in making this possible.
Opening Expected This Summer
While renovations for the new store are progressing, Dai notes that they expect a “slow start” as they fine-tune the store layout. The team is aiming to open in time for the summer season, though they are prepared for potential delays related to the build-out process.
The new Little Pisces location will be at #128-8531 Alexandra Rd in Richmond, bringing their delicious taiyaki and soft serve to the heart of the city’s food scene.
