Popular UK Fast Food Chain to Open in Plymouth

by Ella

A popular UK fast food chain, Chicking, is set to open its latest location in Plymouth, taking over a well-known spot on Royal Parade. The new restaurant is expected to undergo a significant transformation, offering a unique dining experience, including late-night hours.

New Location for Chicking

The fast food brand, known for its “king of spice” reputation, has submitted a licensing application to Plymouth City Council to convert the former Gorge Cafe, a venue famous for its cave-like interior, into a Chicking restaurant. The location has seen several revamps over the years and will now undergo another major change to accommodate the new brand.

Late-Night Service and Safety Measures

The restaurant will offer a late-night menu, with service from 11 PM to 5 AM, seven days a week. The application for the premises license highlights the potential for crime in the area during these hours and assures that the restaurant will adhere to all safety protocols. Staff will receive proper orientation and training to ensure compliance with the policies and maintain a safe environment.

Crime Prevention and Public Nuisance Measures

To address potential crime and disorder concerns, Chicking will have full-time camera surveillance and follow crime reduction initiatives in collaboration with local authorities. The restaurant plans to use communication and problem-solving techniques to ensure safety and prevent criminal activity in and around the premises.

Regarding public nuisance prevention, Chicking has outlined measures such as dimming lights, turning off music systems, and controlling exhaust fans when the kitchen is not in use. The restaurant will also encourage customers to dispose of litter in designated areas and has coordinated waste management with Plymouth City Council.

Safeguarding Children

Chicking’s application also includes a focus on safeguarding children. Staff and volunteers will be trained to recognize and respond to abuse, and strict recruitment processes will be followed to ensure the safety of young patrons.

A Modern, Flavorful Dining Experience

Chicking is known for its exciting menu, offering a variety of flavors from around the world, using the finest quality herbs and spices. The restaurant’s modern setting and efficient service make it a popular choice for families and friends in Asia and the Middle East.

Although a specific opening date has not been set, the public has until February 7 to comment on the premises license application. Chicking plans to bring its vibrant and flavorful dining experience to Plymouth at 72 Royal Parade, a location with a rich history of restaurant transformations.
