Francis Mallmann, the renowned Argentine chef celebrated for his live-fire cooking, will soon open a new restaurant at the upcoming Faena Hotel near the High Line in New York City.
Mallmann’s Signature Live-Fire Cooking Technique
Set to debut this spring, the restaurant’s menu will feature Mallmann’s signature open-fire cooking, along with dishes prepared using large cast-iron skillets. While the restaurant’s name has yet to be revealed, food enthusiasts can expect to enjoy the same bold flavors Mallmann is known for. This venture marks his first restaurant in New York, though he already operates a popular spot at the Faena Hotel in Miami Beach, Los Fuegos by Francis Mallmann.
The Faena Hotel Group’s Growing Influence
The Faena Hotel, founded by Alan Faena in Buenos Aires in 2004, has expanded internationally, with its Miami Beach location becoming a renowned luxury destination. The new Faena Hotel in Manhattan, located near the Google campus and designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, is expected to attract both tourists and New York locals, especially with Mallmann’s involvement in the culinary experience.
A Unique Culinary Experience
Though Mallmann’s New York restaurant will share his signature live-fire cooking, it will offer a distinct dining experience from his Miami restaurant. Mallmann’s rise to fame was propelled by his appearance on the 2015 episode of Chef’s Table, which highlighted his journey from European-style cooking to embracing his love for live-fire cuisine. Known for his bold, rustic dishes, Mallmann’s new New York spot promises to add a unique flavor to the city’s culinary scene.
