A new Mexican restaurant, La Taqueria Con Sabor A Mexico, is now open in Merced, offering home-style cooking and a taste of the Michoacán region.
A Labor of Love
Located on Main Street near G Street in downtown Merced, the restaurant is housed in a building that was in desperate need of repairs before its transformation. Originally, the owners planned to renovate the space for rental purposes, but they eventually decided to open the restaurant as a family business.
“The building needed new windows, a new ceiling, walls removed, a new floor, and even a new hood for the oven. Everything was destroyed,” said Saul Rosas, one of the owners. “In the end, we decided to make this a family project, and it’s been a dream come true.”
Popular Dishes and Community Support
The family-run restaurant has already received positive feedback from the local community. It is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Specializing in dishes from the Michoacán region, some of the owner’s recommendations include tacos de guisado, featuring tender, marinated pork with salsa, and aporreadillo, a unique dish of beef jerky cooked with eggs and red sauce. The restaurant is quickly becoming a favorite for locals seeking authentic Mexican flavors.
